What’s New (Changelog) in Total v5.17

Total Theme v5.17
WPBakery 7.7 modified how field descriptions work in the editor popup window. Previously the descriptions would display under the field, they are now hidden behind a little info icon next to the setting heading. I customized the icon in theme since their design was horrible, but I still feel like it’s very distracting to see those icons everywhere. So I also added a new setting named “WPBakery Field Info Tooltips” in the Theme Panel which you can disable to remove all the info icons from WPBakery. I believe most experienced users understand the various field settings and don’t require the extra info.

  • AddedThreads, Patreon, OnlyFans and Bluesky social options.
  • AddedNew Theme Panel option named “WPBakery Field Info Tooltips” which can be used to disable all the WPBakery setting descriptions (which since WPB 7.7 display a little icon next to the setting heading). If you have experience with the theme and WPBakery and don’t really need to read extra info on each field, disabling the field cleans up the editor so it look much cleaner.
  • AddedSome code to the theme to optimize the new WPBakery info icon so it’s more accessible and looks better.
  • AddedPlaceholders for the animated text element to display the default speeds.
  • AddedImage Fit option to the Teaser element for use with the Aspect Ratio setting.
  • UpdatedWPBakery to version 7.7.2
  • UpdatedTotal Theme Core to version 1.8.7
  • UpdatedThe “Use Featured Image as Background” on/off switch for Sections, Rows and Columns into a select field so you can also set your background image to a custom field value, the post secondary image, the post primary term image or the custom card image.
  • UpdatedThe Editor Styles so they now also apply to the WooCommerce “Product Description” editor.
  • UpdatedThe Under Construction redirection to use the core WordPress nocache_headers() function to help prevent cached redirects once the site goes live.
  • UpdatedThe Contact Form reCaptcha api.js script to use the defer attribute to help with page loading.
  • FixedIssues with custom font sizes defined in the Customizer that start with 0 not working (for example 0.9em).
  • FixedDebug error when using the TutorLMS plugin on the main archive page.
  • FixedWhen setting a section, row or column background to use a featured image it was not adding the proper classes to remove the default WPBakery negative margins on the element.
  • FixedIssues with border styles when updating from a very old theme version that had custom border fields for rows and columns.
  • FixedIssue when updating from a very old theme version that had a custom margin right field for rows/columns the margin wasn’t being applied.
  • FixedIssue when updating from a very old theme version that had custom row and column styling options the settings weren’t being automatically migrated to the CSS Box when editing the element.
  • FixedIssue with the Post Edit button showing when editing the Blank or Landing Page template via the WPBakery frontend editor.
  • FixedNot being able to insert HTML into the custom title theme settings metabox field.
  • FixedNot being able to save the “Background Overlay Opacity” theme settings post meta option when setting the page title style to background with an added overlay.

Wordpress Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Steps for Installing a Plugin:

  1. Log in to your WordPress dashboard.
  2. Go to “Plugins” in the left-hand menu and select “Add New.”
  3. Click the “Upload Plugin” button at the top.
  4. Click “Choose File” and select the plugin file from your computer.
  5. Click “Install Now” to start the installation process.
  6. Once installed, click “Activate” to enable the plugin.

Steps for Installing a Theme:

  1. Log in to your WordPress dashboard.
  2. Navigate to “Appearance” in the left-hand menu and select “Themes.”
  3. Click the “Add New” button at the top.
  4. Choose a theme from the list of popular themes or click “Upload Theme” to upload from your computer.
  5. Once installed, click “Activate” to apply the new theme.

If you mistakenly install a plugin as a theme, it can cause the “style.css not found” error. This occurs because plugins and themes have different file structures, and WordPress expects specific files, like “style.css,” to be present in particular locations depending on whether the installation is a plugin or a theme.

The error message you encountered likely occurred because the theme/plugin package was in .rar format. WordPress only supports the installation of themes/plugins in .zip format, so you need to extract the contents of the .rar file first.

To do this, use a file extraction tool like WinRAR or 7-Zip to extract the contents on your computer. Once extracted, you should see a folder containing the theme/plugin files in .zip format. You can then upload and install this .zip file through the WordPress dashboard like any other theme/plugin.
